The Utah State Board of Education School Safety Center (SSC) is a partnership of state agencies advancing the physical safety and well-being of Utah’s communities by reviewing data and providing technical assistance, developing resources, trainings, and materials that promote school safety.

The Utah State Board of Education: Sets academic standards, protects information systems, manages public education fund, directs transparent operations, develops policy for education, advocates for Utah students, and provides support and oversight of schools.
Utah Department of Public Safety
The Utah Department of Public Safety (DPS) is comprised of 11 divisions and bureaus that include the Utah Highway Patrol, the Division of Emergency Management, Driver License division, Statewide Information and Analysis Center (SIAC), State Bureau of Investigation (SBI), State Fire Marshal, Highway Safety Office, Communications, State Crime Lab, Bureau of Criminal Identification, and Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST). The DPS dive team, Aero Bureau, Special Emergency Response Team (SERT) and Public Protection Unit (PPU) also fall under the Department of Public Safety. DPS is made up of more than 1,500 state employees who are stationed across Utah.

We will ensure all Utahns have fair and equitable opportunities to live safe and healthy lives. We will achieve this through effective policy and a seamless system of services and programs.

Safe and Sound Schools
Founded by parents who lost children at Sandy Hook School, Safe and Sound is a national non-profit school safety advocacy and resource center that provides research based tools and support for crisis prevention, response, and recovery, helping to protect every school, every student, every day.
