The Green River Regional Educational Cooperative is pleased to offer Gatekeeper Training for school receptionists, secretaries, front office staff, safety coordinators, school resource officers, and administrators. As schools shift from a basic understanding of the School Safety and Resiliency Act (SB1, 2019) toward full compliance, the responsibility for keeping students and staff safe often falls upon those who are most likely to initially confront potential threats to others. This conversation will allow us to revisit the major points of the School Safety and Resiliency Act and its impact on the individuals who are the first line of defense of school safety and security. We will talk about not only what the law requires, but why it is required. This training will also emphasize situational awareness, access control measures, and best practices for visitor protocol. Following the guidelines and helping each other to do so requires “commitment over compliance,” a key concept in school safety and security for everyone.
