Lisa Wobbe-Veit is a Professor of Social Work Practicum Education at the USC Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work. Serving as the Assistant Practicum Director, she oversees the practicum experience for Master's candidates enrolled in the Virtual Academic Center (VAC). With a tenure at USC since 2011, Lisa has been instrumental in establishing VAC course materials and practicum procedures, including co-developing a 12-week trauma-responsive School Social Work Training Program. Lisa imparts knowledge across the practicum curriculum, teaching courses such as Virtual Practicum and Integrative Learning for Social Work Practice I/II. Before joining USC, she was a social work faculty at the University of Central Florida.
With over 25 years of experience, Lisa's scholarly pursuits center on mental health and trauma-informed care, with a specific focus on youth and the prevention of school-based violence. As a resident of Parkland, Florida, she serves as a recovery consultant for Broward County Public Schools, extending support to families profoundly impacted by the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting. Engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders, Lisa advocates for best practices in disaster preparedness, mental health-informed threat assessment, crisis response, and long-term recovery. Additionally, she is an Associate and Trainer at the Center for Safe and Resilient Schools and Workplaces, further underscoring her dedication to promoting safety and resilience within educational environments.
