In this session, Mandy Schneitman, former director of student services for Jefferson County Schools and Tennessee safety mentor, talks about how a school emergency response team has the responsibility for developing, monitoring, and adjusting the school emergency operation plan’s communication procedures. Session topics include establishing backup communication methods, working within the district’s communication structure, how to train and practice your communication procedures, setting rhythms to communicate with parents during emergencies, and preparing scripts ahead of time when possible.
