Mark McKee is the Special Agent in Charge for the Eastern Region for the Tennessee Office of Homeland Security which is a division under the Department of Safety and Homeland Security. Mark oversees operations for the thirty-four counties his region covers in Tennessee. Before coming to OHS, Mark enjoyed an over twenty five-year career with the U.S. Secret Service and served in a variety of assignments. Of note, he served as a supervisor for the U.S. Secret Service’s National Threat Assessment Center where his duties focused on training and research in the prevention of acts of targeted violence. Prior to this assignment, Mark was assigned to the U.S. Secret Service Intelligence Division where he specialized in threat management, international terrorism, and operations. Mark has conducted numerous domestic and international lead protective intelligence advances and hundreds of threat investigations for the U.S. Secret Service. After his retirement from the U.S. Secret Service, Mark worked for other state governments and private industry serving as a security specialist dealing with security risk assessments and mitigation efforts in addition to other investigative duties. Mark’s efforts now bring his knowledge and expertise to help keep the citizens of Tennessee safe and secure. In 1989, Special Agent McKee earned his undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice Administration with a minor in psychology from the University of South Alabama. He began his law enforcement career in 1986 when he enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard where he served as a weapons specialist and boarding officer.
