Leonard Whalen has been the Superintendent of the Dawson Springs Independent Schools where he is just completing his 11th year. He is originally from Walton, Kentucky, where he was a graduate of Walton-Verona High School.
He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Berea College and he received certifications from Xavier University and completed his Master’s Degree from Northern KY University. He taught PE and Health and coached both boys and girls high school basketball and softball before he moved into administration 20 years ago. He has served as a DPP, Transportation Director, and Facilities Director and has served in other areas as well.
He is an active member of the Dawson Springs Rotary where he has served as president twice. His wife Kelly works in Caldwell County Schools. His son Leonard Addison is in the PGA Golf Management Program at Eastern KY University and his daughter Taylor is an esthetician.
