Chief Shelton has twenty-five years of experience with the Newport Fire Department. Twelve of those years were spent as the Fire Inspector where he was able to see the importance and benefits of a working relationship with the school system. Since becoming Chief in 2020, Chief Shelton has fostered the idea of going beyond just a relationship to a mutually beneficial partnership between the school system and first responders.
