Deputy Chief Lamb joined the Newport Police Department in 1998. He has resided in Newport TN his entire life. His education background consists of East Tennessee State University where he studied Criminal Justice as well as the Walters State police academy. At the Newport Police Department, he has held the positions of Patrolman, Sergeant, Captain, Detective Captain and currently Deputy Chief. During his career with the Newport Police Department, he aided in the creation of the first tactical team in Cocke County and held the position of the Commander of the Newport/Cocke County SWAT team from 2010-2020. Deputy Chief Lamb was promoted in October of 2022 to his current position. He enjoys coaching youth sports in the community. He is married to his wife, Melissa, who currently practices as a Nurse Practitioner in Newport TN, and they have 2 children. Some of his favorite pastimes are hiking, camping, and sporting activities.
