Jaclyn Schildkraut is Associate Professor of Criminal Justice at the State University of New York at Oswego and an internationally recognized expert on the topics of mass shootings and school safety. She is the co-author of Mass Shootings: Media, Myths, and Realities and Columbine, 20 Years Later and Beyond: Lessons from Tragedy, and has published articles in numerous academic journals. Schildkraut’s research has been featured by media outlets worldwide and she also regularly consults with school districts on emergency preparedness and safety protocols. A former resident of Parkland, FL, Schildkraut earned her Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies and Master’s degree in Applied Sociology, both from the University of Central Florida, as well as her Ph.D. in Criminal Justice from Texas State University. She blends her professional experience with her personal connection to tragedy with the goal of helping to keep communities and schools across the nation safe.
