Description

The legalization of cannabis has led to increased use in children and adolescents, and understanding the neuropsychiatric consequences of use in the developing brain is a critical component of keeping our children safe. Dissemination of new information regarding the short and long-term implications of cannabis use is vital in the identification, intervention, and treatment of this vulnerable population.

Goals and objectives:

  1. Review the increasing prevalence of cannabis use and patterns in children and adolescents as legalization takes place across the United States
  2. Discuss the neuropsychiatric consequences of cannabis use in the developing brain and the treatment of comorbid psychiatric conditions
  3. Review of the most recent research on the short and long-term implications of cannabis use in the adolescent population
