Brian has served in this role for over a decade and leads a team that supports all safety initiatives at NHA. Under his leadership NHA created a School Safety Specialist program that has been credited as “best in class” by a national school safety consultant. Additionally, he serves on the State of Michigan School Safety Commission and the North Carolina Safety Director Advisory Council and occasionally presents at national conferences. In 2016 he was runner up for the Director of the Year award from Campus Safety Magazine. Prior to his career at NHA, he spent 12 years as a police officer at Grand Rapids Police Department with time spent on the SWAT team and served in the training bureau, patrol, and several other areas.
