Sharon Flynn is the Assistant Principal of Edgemont Junior-Senior High School in Scarsdale, New York, located in Westchester County, where she supports students in grades 7–12 through her leadership in academic programming, student support services, and school safety initiatives. She currently oversees the school’s Building Emergency Response Team (BERT) and Threat Assessment Team, ensuring a coordinated and proactive approach to safety and crisis preparedness.
Sharon joined Edgemont in December 2022 and brings almost 30 years of experience in public education to her role. Prior to that, she spent 26 years in the Sewanhaka Central High School District on Long Island, serving as a teacher, chairperson, assistant principal, and safety coordinator. During her tenure, she led a wide range of initiatives focused on student engagement, emergency preparedness, and crisis response—developing systems and protocols that supported safe, inclusive, and well-coordinated learning environments.
She recently presented a case study as part of the Advanced Threat Assessment Series at Putnam Northern Westchester BOCES, a program designed to help established multidisciplinary threat assessment teams refine their protocols. She also completed a Train-the-Trainer series on threat assessment and is slated to train the Greenburgh Police Department in Westchester County in threat assessment protocols—highlighting her leadership in bridging school and community safety efforts.
