Jim is a school psychologist with over 30 years of experience in healthcare and education. His early career in clinical psychology included serving at-risk youth in residential, inpatient, and outpatient settings.
After the Parkland shooting, Jim led Kentucky's initiative to implement threat assessment practices in public schools. His efforts to train school threat assessment teams statewide were highlighted in the December 2019 edition of The Kentucky Teacher magazine.

In 2018, Dr. Dewey Cornell invited Jim to join School Threat Assessment Consultants, LLC, where he has trained school teams in the Comprehensive School Threat Assessment Guidelines (CSTAG) across 25 states. He also consults with several state departments of education and offices of school safety to support the sustainable implementation of behavioral threat assessment in schools.

As a doctoral candidate and fellow at the University of Louisville, Jim researches the integration of tiered educational frameworks, behavioral threat assessment, and the adoption of best practices for educators. He lives in Louisville, KY, with his family.
