This course provides a basic understanding of the School Resource Officer (SRO) as a vital, multidisciplinary partner within the school environment. Participants will learn how the SRO’s unique position facilitates proactive violence prevention through formal and informal student interactions. The class specifically focuses on the SRO’s essential contributions to a behavioral threat assessment and management process—moving beyond traditional policing to identify, assess, and manage concerning behaviors before they escalate into violence.
