Lynelle Sparks is a certified and licensed Texas Peace Officer with the Hillsboro Department of Public Safety for 16 years. She is currently assigned as the Sergeant for the School Resource Officer Unit with primary duty as the School Resource Officer and Coordinator. Her duties include liaison for Hillsboro Independent School District Campuses and the Hillsboro Department of Public Safety. She has completed both the Basic and Advanced SRO schools and is a National SRO Practitioner of National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO). With the support of the Chief of Police and the City of Hillsboro, she helped start the Hillsboro Boys and Girls Club and the Hillsboro Explorer Post, where she is the current Post Advisor.

As a certified Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) instructor, Lynelle provides training to recruits and peace officers in her field of expertise. Sergeant Sparks holds her Master’s Texas Peace Officers Certificate, and has instructed numerous drug/alcohol and safety education programs. Sergeant Sparks obtained a Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice Administration from Tarleton State University in May 2018.

Lynelle has been a Texas Association School Resource Officer (TASRO) member for 11 years, and currently the Executive Director with TASRO. She is actively working with the TASRO Board on state level training for School Resource Officers and has previously served as Board Treasurer, 2nd Vice President, and President, Past President and Training Coordinator.
