Gary Shelton is a retired 25 year veteran of the Norman Police Department. He achieved the rank of LT. and served as a supervisor for the Patrol bureau, Office of Community Policing, Criminal Investigations Division, and the Narcotics Division. Upon retiring from the Norman Police Department in February 2014 Gary began his career with Oklahoma Office of Homeland Security – Oklahoma School Security institute. He has been responsible for conducting Risk and Vulnerability Assessments, developing training programs for teachers and transportation professionals as well as reviewing and developing emergency operations plans. Gary has received training in Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED), Critical Infrastructure Key Resource Awareness and Advanced Critical Infrastructure Protection. He serves as an instructor for LSU-NCBRT Run, Hide, Fight, Citizen Response to Active Shooter (CRASE), School Response to Armed Assailant, Bus Security Training, Site Protection through Observational Techniques (SPOT), Law Enforcement Prevention and Deterrence of Terrorist Acts, A.L.I.C.E, Bridges out of Poverty Tactical Communications, Risk Management for Interscholastic Athletics and After School Activities, Stop The Bleed and Law Enforcement Active Shooter Emergency Response (LASER).
