Don Hough serves as Vice President of Public Sector at COSECURE, where he leads national consulting efforts focused on K–12 school safety, physical security, cybersecurity, emergency preparedness, and enterprise risk management. With experience spanning federal government, private industry, and operational consulting, Don is recognized as a national leader in advancing holistic approaches to school safety and security.
 
Prior to joining COSECURE, Don served at the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) within the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, where he led the nation’s school safety strategy and directed interagency coordination efforts across DHS, the U.S. Department of Education, the Department of Justice, and the Department of Health and Human Services. During his tenure, he oversaw major federal school safety initiatives, multidisciplinary teams, and the development and nationwide rollout of foundational resources that continue to shape K–12 safety practices nationwide, including SchoolSafety.gov, the K–12 School Security Guide Suite, anonymized threat response guidance, and the National Summit on K–12 School Safety and Security.
 
Don helps schools and public institutions integrate physical security, cybersecurity, emergency management, and behavioral threat management into unified safety strategies. Throughout his career, he has built strong partnerships with state agencies, school districts, national associations, technology innovators, and industry leaders to improve preparedness, resilience, and operational coordination across the education sector. His leadership and contributions have earned multiple honors, including the DHS Secretary’s Award for Excellence and the DHS Secretary’s Award for Innovation.
