Doug Hunt currently serves as Associate Director of Mission Advancement for Bright Futures at Safe and Sound Schools. In this role, he leverages his entrepreneurship background to help expand the Bright Futures program from its current reach of nine states and 250,000 students to all 50 states, with the goal of serving more than one million children in need.
Beginning in 2020, Doug served for five years as Director of Entrepreneurship for the Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce in Joplin, Missouri. He worked closely with startup companies, coaching entrepreneurs through the critical stages of early growth, stabilization, and eventual graduation from the Chamber’s business incubators. Businesses supported during his leadership created more than 70 full-time jobs.
In addition, Doug founded Doug Hunt Consulting in 2013, where he provided coaching and strategic guidance to small business owners in marketing, public relations, internal communications, and team development. Through his consulting firm, he also delivered workshops, seminars, and keynote presentations at business and leadership events.
Throughout his career, Doug has served as the founder, owner, and CEO of Sunrise Media Group, Inc., a leading marketing and public relations firm. The company was recognized with the Small Business of the Year Award in 2004.
Doug began his professional career in broadcast television, spending 11 years at KSN and KODE TV stations directing the 6 and 10 p.m. news broadcasts and producing television commercials. During that time, he developed a deep appreciation for small businesses, entrepreneurship, and community building.
In public service, Doug made history as the youngest person ever elected to the Joplin City Council at the age of 25.
