Mindy Merrell serves as the Support Services Director for Uintah School District, where she also leads the district’s safety and security efforts. With 21 years in education, including 10 years in leadership roles, she brings a systems-level perspective grounded in a strong commitment to student well-being.
In her role as Safety and Security Director, Mindy has developed a deep passion for creating safe, prepared school environments. She recently led a large-scale, multi-agency safety exercise involving law enforcement, EMS, hospitals, public health, and emergency management. The exercise featured coordinated response and reunification efforts across multiple environments, highlighting her emphasis on collaboration and practical preparedness.
Mindy is guided by a student-first mindset, frequently asking, “What is best for students?” as the foundation for decision-making. She has presented at school counseling and leadership conferences and values opportunities to learn from and work alongside others committed to school safety.
Outside of her professional work, Mindy enjoys tennis, pickleball, hiking, taking road trips, and supporting her children in their wide range of unique interests—from curling and disc golf to color guard, rock climbing, and even whip cracking.
