Speaker Bio
I studied Sociology and Criminal Justice at Weber State University and Utah State University; I graduated from the satellite peace officer's and standard's training academy at Bridgerland Applied Technology College in Logan, Utah.

I was hired as a reserve officer for Logan City Police Department and hired full-time in 1996. After spending a little over ten years at Logan City Police Department, I decided it was time to move my family home to Vernal, UT, my home place. This presented a number of great opportunities, including for me and my kids to enjoy rodeo, wrestling and the outdoors. The move brought us back home to my family and my wife's family.

The sheriff of Uintah County hired me in 2005 and I worked there until he lost the election in 2006. Vernal City Police recruited me to work for them, and I worked there until 2019. I was elected the Uintah County Sheriff in 2019. I am currently running unopposed, so I'll be the Sheriff for at least another four years.

I've had the opportunity to wear many hats in my 30+ years in this profession - some of them include, Sheriff, sergeant, first line supervisor, officer in charge, crimes against persons and property detective, school resource officer, motorcycle officer, mountain bike officer, advance traffic investigator, advanced SWAT officer, close quarters combat, advanced observer marksman, and active shooter instructor. I've been blessed to come from a long line of educators and school employees. This includes my wife, mother, brother, sister-in-law, and an aunt.

I am married to my beautiful wife and we have two sons and one daughter. All of our children are married, and we have three cute little granddaughters and one on the way. We enjoy the outdoors including, hunting, fishing, hiking, biking, camping, and boating.
