Chris Ruiz is a Detective with the Pleasant Grove Police Department. He is currently assigned to the schools as the School Resource Officer. He has been in law enforcement for 14 years. Before getting into police work, Chris worked 20 years in the Retail Sales field as a Customer Service Manager. The knowledge and skills learned over the years in the retail field, specifically in conflict resolution and de-escalation, has helped him have a successful career in law enforcement.

In addition to working as a Detective in the Investigations Division, he is the President of The Utah Association of School Resource Officers, Director of the Pleasant Grove Youth Cadet program, Traffic School Instructor, as well as being a board member for the Pleasant Grove Cares Coalition and the Utah County Children's Justice Center. He has a passion for working with the youth in the community and schools. He is the advisor of the Multicultural Club, which has grown to be the largest, most active club on campus.

Chris has advised on various committees for the state, including the School Safety and Security Task Force and Parental Education on Student use of Technology. His unique insight as a School Resource Officer has been helpful in drafting new and improved legislation. He is anxiously engaged in community outreach, talking and serving with a variety of volunteer groups.

Chris enjoys public speaking and presenting to various groups on a wide range of subjects and is always willing to share his personal and professional experiences with others.
