School Threats and Swatting Calls: Assessing the Situation and Plan of Action
Description

School threats and “swatting” calls happen to our educational campuses across the nation all too frequently.  In this class, we will discuss what swatting is and how to deal with threats of violence against students and schools.  Being prepared to face such events by understanding how swatting works and how to spot it is vital in thwarting such planned acts of violence.  School administrators, staff and faculty, as well as law enforcement, including the School Resource Officer, have a role to play in gathering information, assessing the situation, and executing a plan of action to prevent any mass casualty event.  Understanding the collaboration between law enforcement and the educational system is key in creating a safe learning environment.  This class will provide the tools, knowledge, and resources that you can take back to your schools, so you too, can be prepared for events of this nature.
