Listening for What Isn’t Said: Suicide Prevention and Student Support in Schools
Description

Youth suicide remains one of the leading causes of death among school-aged students, placing educators and school staff in a critical position to notice and respond. This session focuses on the often-unspoken signals of student distress and how school communities can play a vital role in suicide prevention through awareness, connection, and timely intervention.

Participants will gain insight into school policies and best practices for suicide prevention, while also exploring how effective prevention begins long before a student makes a direct outcry for help. Grounded in real-world scenarios, this presentation emphasizes that suicide prevention is a shared responsibility and equips participants with practical tools to help create environments where students feel seen, heard, and supported.
