Emergency Recovery Planning: A New Requirement for Utah Schools
Description
Recovery is rarely prioritized within emergency planning, and in the aftermath of a crisis, recovery efforts are commonly met with a patchwork of disjointed actions. Utah leaders have recognized this gap and are taking action to change the narrative for our state. In this 60-minute breakout session, members of the Utah School Safety Center will share an overview of the new requirements of Emergency Recovery Plans, including the four core components of Academics Recovery, Business Services Recovery, Physical and Structural Recovery, and Health, Wellbeing, and Behavioral Recovery. Participants will also be introduced to why recovery planning improves the immediate, short-term, and long-term outcomes of school communities.
