As mental health concerns increase, schools must be prepared to address suicide prevention and intervention needs for all students. In this session, Michele Gay, co-founder and executive director of Safe and Sound Schools, will highlight key takeaways from the larger Pathways for Prevention training program. The focus will be on how to identify risk and protective factors, recognize warning signs of suicide, and support at-risk students through the implementation of MTSS. This includes conducting suicide risk assessments, developing safety plans, facilitating the reintegration of students after hospitalization, and discussing best practices in suicide postvention.
