Officer Shay Ballard began his career in law enforcement 17 years ago working at the Salt Lake County Jail as a corrections officer. After 4 years at the jail, he started his employment with Sandy City where he is currently. Ballard has been an SRO (school resource officer) in the Canyons School District for 10 years. He has worked at all three levels- elementary, middle school and high school. His assignment for the 25-26 school year will be at Jordan High School. Ballard left the youth unit for a brief time to be a persons’ detective but, made his way back to working in the schools. He understands the importance of building relationships with staff, students and families in the community to create positive outcomes.

In his free time, Officer Ballard enjoys the outdoors, hunting and spending time with his family.
