Strengthening Student Well-Being Through Prevention Science and the Protective Factor Framework*
Description

This session will introduce participants to the principles of Prevention Science and the Protective Factor Framework (PFF)—a research-based approach that guides effective prevention strategies. The PFF is a universal prevention approach that has been adopted by the Utah State Board of Education to inform school-based prevention work.  The PFF supports efforts to reduce student risk behaviors, promote positive outcomes, and enhance student well-being, even in the face of significant adversity. Participants will learn how the PFF equips educators to identify and strengthen key protective factors in students’ lives, enabling more targeted and effective prevention strategies that foster student resilience, engagement in school, and academic success.
