Darin served as a teacher, coach, principal and superintendent throughout his 33 year career in public education. Most notably, Darin was Superintendent of Schools in Greensburg KS when an EF5 tornado completely destroyed his school and community in May of 2007. Darin spent the last 9 years of his educational career helping to rebuild his entire school and community from the ground up. He led an effort that resulted in the construction of the first Lead Platinum K-12 School in the US. The primary goal of their disaster recovery journey was to not just “survive” the decimation, but to “thrive” in ways not previously imagined. His story illustrates what can be accomplished with vision, patience, and perseverance. Following his retirement from public education in 2016, Darin is currently Director of Business Development for McCownGordon Construction, serving their K12 and Higher Education markets.
