On August 21, 2021, up to 15 inches of rain fell over a 6-hour period, resulting in catastrophic and deadly flash flooding that resulted in twenty fatalities and hundreds of homes destroyed in Humphreys County, Tennessee. The flooding also caused the complete loss of two schools and the school district’s critical infrastructure.
